Replies are rare and nothing seems to convert. You are probably making one of the four mistakes that almost everyone makes. The good part is that you can fix them once you have identified what they are.
Table of Contents
You are treating Insta Stories like mini feed posts
You spent hours creating a beautiful carousel and so you decide to dump them in your Insta stories too. That is why nobody watches. It is the same content that you have reposted from your grid captions or carousel slides.
With millions of creators fighting for attention the second your Story pops up, you have got exactly 0.2 seconds to hook them or they are gone, swiping straight to the next one.
Do this instead:
You need to build a connection. Engage with them like you are texting a friend. Show your audience the real moments like behind-the-scenes clips, your desk mess, the "you won't believe what just happened" stuff. That will keep them hooked and they will end up watching more of it.
You are not giving them a real reason to stick around
You posted a random coffee pic + "Happy Tuesday ☕"? We have all done it. But honestly, there's zero reason for anyone to care.
People tap on Stories because they want to feel something or learn something quick — for example, something new, a tip, a little win, a connection.
Do this instead:
Start your story with a hook that makes them think "ooh I need to see this."
- "Biggest mistake I made this week…"
- "The one thing that's changed everything…"
- "What nobody tells you about…"
Tiny takeaways that they can use today. This way you make it about them and not just focused on you. This way they will identify with your content.
Every Story feels like an ad
If the vibe is "buy this, join that, DM me now" every single day, people start hiding your stories without even feeling bad about it.
You have to earn the right to sell. Only then you can actually create a difference. You must keep in mind that people don't buy products unless they actually feel what difference it can make in their life.
Do this instead:
Share the story behind the offer. Show the transformation. Talk about the client who just got the result, or the struggle you had before you figured it out. Then casually say "if you want that too, here's the link." It feels more natural.
You are either posting way too much or ghosting for days
20+ slides a day = people get overwhelmed and mute you.
Posting once a week = they totally forget you exist.
Do this instead:
3–5 slides a day is the sweet spot for most accounts. It feels consistent without being too much.
And take one planned 24-hour break per week (tell them "taking my weekly Story detox – back tomorrow!"). They actually miss you and come back excited.
The quick daily checklist I now follow
That's literally it.
